An EcoMom sent me this…The author of The Last Child in the Woods. Richard Louv speaks on the disorder called the Nature Deficit Disorder.
A bit slow at times, but really good! Anti-Ipod, over scheduling, videos in cars, video games and pro access to nature, parks, woods and family promotion of natural encounters. He speaks on “stranger danger” and our current culture of fear which has encouraged families to keep their children inside and out of the woods.

Hi Julie,
Comment by Betty Cooke PMpThu, 06 Mar 2008 15:35:40 +000035Thursday, 16, 2008 @ 12:56 pm03This is my first time responding on a blog, so I don’t know if I’m doing this correctly, but I wanted you and your readers who live in or near Minnesota to know that the Minnesota Council on Family Relations (MCFR)(of which I am currently president) is co-sponsoring a conference with the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum to be held at the Arboretum on Friday, April 4, 2008 on Nature, Children and Families: A Necessary Connection based on the Louv book. Information about the conference and a registration flyer is available on the MCFR website at http://www.mcfr.net for anyone who may be interested.
